You ask what it seems
I have in my dreams,
if we would discuss
you, me, and us.
I dream of being able to,
in all ways, impress you
and full-on woo you
and with joy and laughter pursue you.
But if you say “no”,
and give into fear,
I’ll awaken real slow,
or slip into a nightmare.
For living out full-blown, wondrous dreams
is often much harder than it seems.
Now I’m the one who’s/
sleepless. I guess I awake /
feeling my heart ache.
I awake
and feel. Emptyness.
Ache.
I guess
this is a heartbreak.
Waking to a bed/
that’s empty is hard. Waking/
empty is much worse.
She layed,
Languidly,
Lingering in his arms.
He, taut,
Held tightly,
Timidly thinking of speaking.
Silence drove their uncertainty.
Yet both were so sure.
Crying all night long/
makes it hard to open your/
eyes in the morning.
Sometimes she’s awake/
at 2 a.m.. I wonder:/
Should I call her then?
Again, she remains
a quiet woman. What do/
I do to wake her?
She says she wants to/
call and talk. Next, she texts she’s /
sleepy. “Goodnight.” What?!?
I don’t have to act like
I care what you say.
I just do.
I will talk intelligently…
even gently,
because I am
and I am.
You will laugh
because I’m witty,
funny,
clever,
and insanely
humble.
There is no hurry
to lay you down
if I can hold you,
kiss you tenderly,
and listen to you
and converse.
Pity that
I’m not taller.
