I awakened her/
feelings of passion and we/
didn’t even kiss.

Not Sleeping Alone: Romantic Free Improverse Poetry

She never has to sleep
alone.
She never has to wonder
what it’s like to slumber,
deep,
untouched,
unwanted,
cold.

She always has an eager,
willing,
warm,
loving companion.

Perhaps I,
too,
should get a dog.

Sleep well and if it’s/
farewell then I guess the light/
of morning will tell.

Sleeping in is such/
a luxury, I forgot/
how I should do it.

Go to bed the way /
you should. From now on you can /
sleep well and be good.

You have a chance/
for heartfelt romance./
I’ll take a number/
before I slumber, /
so we may, someday, dance.

Because your nighttime/

determines your day, I’ll ask:/

“How’d you sleep last night?”

Moonlite slatted through/

blinded windows and barren /

trees makes me lonely.

At 2 a.m. I /
wake to see if u wrote me./
You didn’t and won’t.

Deep sorrow is good./
When you haven’t been sleeping/
it helps you slumber.
