Being alone can/
scare me away from doing/
the good I should be.

Making The Desert Blossom: Revolutionary ConTEXTing Rhyming Haiku

Pioneers were told:/
“Make the desert blossom as/
a rose!” So they did.

A friend told me she/
breathed for me. Another prayed./
One researched. All loved.

I can’t ignore my/
problems and hope they’ll vanish./
I’ll face them head on.

I’m watching my daughter die.
She’s starving her body to death.
Why can’t I even cry?
Why can’t I barely draw a breath?

What brought her to this bleak abyss?
Does it really matter?
All I know is that she’d be missed;
My world would be much sadder.

So I’m putting aside my selfish ways,
my lack of focus and my pride.
I will spend my talents and days
in efforts to fix her dying insides.

Was I responsible for her ills? I now don’t care.
But I know I’ll be at fault if I just leave them there.

All my performance/
anxiety goes away/
when I’m around you.

The burden of sin/
makes the tray of emblems seem/
even more heavy.

There’s a blue moon out./
If you were here or I there,/
we could cure our blues.

A blue moon’s out. If/
you were here or I there, we’d/
cure our blue feelings.

I’m not going to/
put pressure on you about/
not feeling pressure.

My step one/
is finally done.
I made a phone call.
That is all.
I must walk before I run.
