I wear purple for/
my girl and every other/
daughter I see sad.

I wear new purple/
because I love my girl who/
does not love herself.

The scales fell from my/
eyes. I realized it’s not/
all about dating.

If I have no chip/
on my shoulder, she can rest/
her head there, gently.

She can’t know of my/
spiritual intelligence/
when I’m a black hole.

You can’t tell your heart/
who to love. You can only/
remind it: You don’t.

I want to be loved/
for what I think I can be;/
how she believes me.

She sought better for/
herself than what I offered/
right then … so she left.

It didn’t happen/
with me, because of me, or/
to me. I feel good.

If I don’t have time/
to listen, I can still pray/
And hear as I go.
