How do you wake up/
your wife to view the Wolf Moon/
eclipse? Howl loudly.

When the washer runs /
above your head, you wake up,/
get up, and write more.

When your dream girl is/
in the arms of another,/
it’s time to wake up.

It’s early morning./
The sun/
sleeps in./

In this winter farmland,/
he,/
lazy like me,/
has not yet shucked
his blanket.

But the moon,/
bright,/
woman-full
and luscious,/
works her way/
through cold/
spindly/
cottonwood-maple-willow/
tree fingers./

They reach skyward
to cup her/
and hold her/
and uphold her/
longer/
until Apollo/
can wake up.

Is it exciting/
to get excited about/
being excited?

If I send you a/
poem, as you request, you won’t/
get your needed rest.

What is it like to/
wake up in the night and ask/
if you’re still dreaming?
