When we do what we’re/
told, it’s not friendship that’s put/
aside, but our pride.

What She Didn’t Know: Romantic ConTEXTing Rhyming Haiku

She thinks I’ve not known,/
or, knowing, don’t care. Both wrong./
She’s been in my prayers.

What more can I do?/
What can I give up to serve?/
How can I change lives?

The smallest flicker/
of belief can help us through/
tough times ’til we blaze.

Do I substitute /
my Facebook friends for having/
real relationships?

Unexpected joy/
filled me as a survivor/
played organ again.

Her scathing rebuke/
caused me to kneel as fast as/
Scripture ever did.

There was much more/
to discuss, but it was too/
early to say it.

Are there so many/
opportunities that you/
can just pass me by?
