She stood straight, limbs long,/
longing for he. Looking up,/
she couldn’t see me.

Are you still too tall?/
Am I still too short? Can you/
grasp other talents?

I patiently wait/
for her to let me do what/
she will want me to.

Motivation and/
inward examination/
from her helps me move.

She’s the baseline, the/
standard by which all are
found/
wanting. Now I am.

Once she was going/
to drive to me to save us./
I wish she’d let me.

Garden and Boston/
books will go on shelves. The sharp/
cheese I’ll save for me.

Instead of dreaming/
of being in love, why not/
dream of just loving?

When we do what we’re/
told, it’s not friendship that’s put/
aside, but our pride.
