The suitcase she gave/
me is all busted up, like/
our relationship.

Strands of color/
framed her auburn hair .
and golden face /
and I knew not where
the rainbow ended and/
she began.

She said “love” in a/
sentence about me. Now she’s/
asking to see me.

Remember that smooth/

white brick I’d bring you? Now that/

you don’t read, I won’t.

Remember that sharp/

cheddar I’d bring you? Now that/

you don’t read, I won’t.

Her request to stay/
in touch won’t mean much when she’s/
out on a late date.

A few miles away/
is a woman I’d walk-talk/
with under the moon.

Amidst the ice, snow/
and cold, someone left me a/
heart. I wonder who?

He’d always grown both/
daisies and roses, but he/
liked wildflowers best.

She couldn’t wait for/
me to love her the way I/
need to, so I can’t.

I finally learned/
why I’ve stayed so distant. Fear./
She’s the Goddess, dreamed.

When teenage boy dreams
and fantasies
turn into adult man
realities,
they still can be
scary.
