I am embarrassed/
by dawn’s bright light/
to have illuminated/
what I wrote last night.

Her slow response time/
made him wonder: Continue?/
Or let her slumber?

Too late he learned she/
meant it when she said sometimes/
too late is too late.

He leaned
and, listening, dreamed
thots of her,
voice near,
in near slumber.

What mite
it b like
2 hear her voice,
close?

2 feel her form,
warm,
at times b4 felt,
that made him melt?

Would she be prepared/
or unaware of what late/
night missive he’d give?

She, the mistress of/
my muse, slammed the door on my/
creativity.

She has no feelings?/
She would profane and claim her/
emptiness? Fill me.

Feelings of desire/
stir in me old memories:/
Shame and foolishness.

Feelings of desire/
stir old mem’ries of shame and/
foolishness in me.

Not knowing who first/
rose to see this, I’ll just say/
I’m glad feelings bloomed.

With morning’s longing/
I reach out for you. I just/
can’t stretch far enough.
