Motivation and/
inward examination/
from her helps me move.

standard by which all are
found/
wanting. Now I am.

Once she was going/
to drive to me to save us./
I wish she’d let me.

Garden and Boston/
books will go on shelves. The sharp/
cheese I’ll save for me.

Instead of dreaming/
of being in love, why not/
dream of just loving?

When we do what we’re/
told, it’s not friendship that’s put/
aside, but our pride.

The invitation/
I left dangling. I knew not/
how she’d handle me.

Laughing, I thought it/
looked like a place where we had/
