I never could be/
who I am with you because/
you didn’t want me.

Fox gloves are pretty./
But, like women, you won’t know/
that they’ll stop your heart.

As the half moon sinks/
deep into the sea, she meets/
herself. We find us.

or
we connect.

Your voice is lilting./
Like droplets o’er river rocks,/
you sooth and comfort.

I don’t want to be/
someone you keep around just/
so you won’t hurt me.

Maybe the reason/
you’re fighting leaving is that /
you’re not supposed to.

Now I’m the one who’s/
sleepless. I guess I awake /
feeling my heart ache.

With this many red/
flags, should you sometimes just slam /
on the brakes and stop?

Y did she care who/
was shallow and self-centered?/
Y’d both go silent?
