Today I showed my/
co-worker her photo and/
said: “Here’s my dream girl.”

The world was denied/
his creativity just/
so they could converse.

She asked for him first./
She asked for him more. I’m just/
a fill in for him.

Why does her name sound/
familiar? Why does it call/
like distant water?

If I have no chip/
on my shoulder, she can rest/
her head there, gently.

You can’t tell your heart/
who to love. You can only/
remind it: You don’t.

If she’d only fall/
for me, just think of all the/
poetry she’d get.

I want to be loved/
for what I think I can be;/
how she believes me.

She sought better for/
herself than what I offered/
right then … so she left.

Bone of my bone,/
conceived of/
our joyful response/
and laughter/
over an indie film/
proves we’re not the title.
