Only a parent/
could read their child’s Facebook post/
and burst into tears.

She gazes downward/
as if to read her soul, deep./
May I turn pages?

There are no books which/
are spiritual. We must/
ponder, apply, do.

I read where she’d sit/
if she’d come to it but she/
won’t. I feel like shit.

Lady in the blue/
t-shirt: It won’t hurt to read./
It’s what we all need.

She read her massive/
textbook. It IS about the/
chemistry of man.

When you read how my/
heart bleeds for you, don’t you want/
to scream: “Just shut up!” ?

Romantic rocker,/
reading red head on your beach:/
You’re never too old.

OR:

Romantic redhead,/
reading on your beach: Rock on!/
You’re never too old.

She’ll read others’ words./
Poems, prose, verse written before./
Her’s are not enough.

My mother’s bookcase/
shrinks from room-sized to notepad./
Her book list explodes.
