Got the chance to jump/
in the lake at sunset? Leap!/
Despite the skim ice!

Ripping Off Fingers: Romantic IMprov Haiku

When she said writing/
my feelings wasn’t needed,/
she ripped off fingers.

Bird flies, faces out/
of her cage, strains to self-train/
so she’ll stay on track.

When you’re old enough,/
you at last get to help Dad/
winterize the boat.

She gazes downward/
as if to read her soul, deep./
May I turn pages?

When people you trust/
turn judge and jury, before/
they execute, run!

In God’s temple there’s/
folks with tats, ‘cuz He just cares/
where their hearts are at.

Some of my greatest/
mem’ries start with this phrase: “Once,/
my daughter and I … “

There should be a poem/
for her birthday, but she’s too/
awesome. Oh, wait. There!

Like great thinking, great/
art can be reanalyzed,/
re-framed, re-purposed.
