You may teach a man/
to fish, but if he won’t go/
where they swim, he’ll starve.

What would it take to/
be the man with her weekends/
and for forever?

In the woods of a/
friend, an unknown wildflower/
gives me wonderment.

Planting apple trees,/
pounding in fence posts, tired, I’m/
sure* I’m no farmer.
*glad

If you often go/
into the woods, you’ll witness/
the season’s first blooms.

My daughter: Before/
she ran with wolves, she danced with/
salmon, spied turtles.

I dreamed they were here,/
and I yelled: “They are here!” And/
now, at last, they’re here!

dancing with the lake’s waves/

My fingers froze,
trying to hold lens steady,
silently breathing.
