If I set up a/
deadline not met, am I strong/
enough to act right?

When I’m not kind,but/
lash out, even though I’m hurt,/
I’m not doing right.

When I call or text/
and she won’t answer, am I/
like her other men?

There’s no rip in the/
outside fabric, but the cut/
underneath still hurts.

still bleeds.

When it’s an effort/
to do the right thing, then you/
learn that it’s worth it.

Weekends, she says, are/
lonely for her. Why wonder/
when she won’t call back?

When you think it’s some/
of her world-class split-pea soup,/
but it’s refried beans.

She knew it would be/
a tough evening. She lent him/
no support. Bye bye.

She might leave the dime /
there, reminder of the time /
he showed how he cared.

It shouldn’t surprise/
me to see kind service acts*/
in His Holy House.
