love and caring before they/
kneel at obelisks.

Barriers ahead?/
Figure possibilities,/
then do those, instead!

Don’t expose yourself./
Open your butterfly heart:/
They’ll rip off your wings.

If you won’t feed me,/
allow me in your kitchen./
Let me help you cook.

Strange how memory/
is stronger around heartache./
Remember joy, too.

I remember once/
thinking I knew something harsh./
I only felt pain.

I wrote a haiku/
about you. Then you wrote, so/
it must go. Thank you.

What’s worse than ragtops/
in Seattle? Having a/
bad mem’ry in rain.
