Is it unkind to/
tell her that I pine, and ask/
her to change her mind?

I dream of her in /
wonder, and wonder what I/
could do to move her.

could move her to me.

It brings me great joy/
when kids in church yell: “Hey! You’re/
that poetry guy!”

If all I can do/
is pray for you, then that is/
what I’ll gladly do.

It had been long since/
I’d toiled in her garden, yet/
I felt I still should.

There is probably/
no medicine stronger than/
peyote laughter.

It’s always more fun/
