If I go to a/
meeting where all are sad, should I/
get sad or lift them?
Though writing’s painful,/
my musings should make you glad./
It shows we’re growing.
My kids could have said:/
“Dad, remember who you are/
and what we stand for.”
When she said goodbye,/
she said: “That was easy.” I’m/
sad it was for her.
If I looked in your eyes, deeply,/
and discussed philosophy,/
and a Frank Sinatra song/
suddenly came on,/
would you slow dance with me?
It is such a strange/
role reversal: she’s wanting /
the game more than me.
When I give her what/
she asks for, and she turns it/
down, I’ll stop trying.
