What they have’s special./
Yet, she is still out looking./
Should he be confused?

2 a.m. Phone Calls: Romantic ConTEXTing Rhyming Haiku

Sometimes she’s awake/
at 2 a.m.. I wonder:/
Should I call her then?

She may decide: “No.”/
I may go down in flames, but/
I will be on fire.

Or
She may shoot me down in flames./
I’ll still be on fire.

How fun! I’m jealous/
of grandkids, pool and sun, but/
mostly the puppy.

I wrote a haiku/
about you. Then you wrote, so/
it must go. Thank you.

“Do you date?” she asked./
Like a beaver dam breaking,/
“Yes!” let her move on.

Maybe I avoid/
you the way that a moth should /
stay away from flames.

I want to know how/
to cure my Pavlovian/
response. Never mind.

If you set dates that/
are virtual and no one/
calls, you’re still stood up.

Saying dont worry/
about you is like saying/
don’t care about you.
