How about
if we make out?
It would be fun,
and when we’re done,
we’d scream and shout!

Living Life In Layers: Revolutionary IMprov Iambic Poetry
I missed her joking, her laughter, her high energy.
She seemed distant, business like, at least to me.
So I commented on it the other day.
These words of wisdom are what I heard her say:
“I live my life in layers.
That has to be how
I do it. I’m still the same person;
the business layer’s on top now.”
And I thought of how she wears clothes,
and I saw the wisdom in her words:
Just because she wears a winter coat,
it’s not just that: that’s absurd!
She may be wearing her snowmobile suit,
but underneath’s her suit coat
(it makes her look kinda cute
and less like she has to bloat!)
And underneath, a form-fitting sweater
to keep her nice and warm:
whatever the weather
that wool helps ride out the storm.
And she, underneath, when she leaves her house
(depending on her mood),
wears a Seahawks jersey or a lacy blouse.
(Either one makes her look good!)
And underneath, at the core,
gently brushing against her skin,
are lace and satin pieces
that would cause a man to sin!
And each of these items
define who she is today,
although we may not see them
they still don’t go away.
She knows what she wears
both outwardly and underneath.
She may be the only one who cares,
but her layers make her unique.
And so it is with personalities
we wear from day to day.
There may be only one the world sees
but the others don’t go away.
Whether business, athletic, thinking or playful,
our layers are what make us rich, complex and full.
