Dancing for a Well-Lived Life: Revolutionary ConTEXTing Poem
At the Victoria, BC “Remembering Glenna” celebration of Glenna Evan’s life, performances included serving Glenna’s favorite foods (sauerkraut, sausage, pickled beets and ground mustard — along with vodka shots!), fire dancing, the Velo Vixens, open mic memories, Glenna’s art, and a samba band — which of course led to a street dance celebration! As the evening ended, distant fireworks from Victoria’s Inner Harbour seemed to add to the joy of the evening, prompting this ConTEXTing poem:
At last,/
when distant fireworks passed,/
a samba band came./
We danced and laffed/
and spoke yer name./
We 8 sauerkraut, mustard, beets,/
and fired up yer street.
